Chief White Crane
We had a great stay at Chief White Crane. We went mid-week and the camp was very peaceful. The bathrooms were immaculate, which was a nice bonus.
However, after many years of camping, the campground hosts never once stopped by our spot or introduced themselves. This has never happened in the past so that was quite disappointing.

Great experience!
The cabin we stayed in was very clean and nice and cool inside. The modern bathrooms and showers were just a short walk from the cabin. Beautiful views and it was nice and quiet. Everyone was super friendly that we came into contact with.

OK - Camping Trip
Overall - it had gone well. I had gone with my dog/Bear and it had gone well. I enjoy camping when the camp ground is not too full like on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends when they get a little too wild for my tastes. I enjoyed the piece and quite - which I did get and enjoyed, however, I did pack up the evening before my check out date due to two reasons - it was getting to busy (like what I had mentioned earlier) and they were forecasting rain in the early morning and I did not want to pack in the rain. I really enjoyed watching the wildlife during the weekdays - normally don't see that over the weekends when the campground is full. I saw the Falcons, Eagles, other birds, a couple muskrats in the water, along with a few deer going through the campground. Bear and I loved that!!!!
The only issues I had was that I did not expect to be cleaning my cabin when I had arrived. Found muskmelon seeds near the trash can and I swifter the floor and picked up a bunch of dirt, dust, Peanut M&Ms and Cheetos (I didn't have any of that when I was using the cabin - besides Bear cannot have chocolate and she has allergies towards a lot of people food - peanuts are one of them). Also I did my volunteering in picking up cigerate butts, twist ties, pieces of plastic wrappers, 1 dead Bat, 1 dead mouse and 1 dead mole (all together about 5-6 cups worth of these small pieces from the ground around the campsite) and found more later on in the trip. I do realize everywhere parks especially are working short handed and they do the best they can do and I greatly appreciate in what they do do. Later, did talk to my neighbor (had a great visit and Bear made a couple new friends to play with!) - she also picked up a dead animal as we were visiting as well. Makes me wonder what is causing all of these dead critters in a small area - I realize it maybe the circle of life.
The Comfort Station - is ok, but I do realize money is tight now days, however, the showers do need to be expanded/enlarged. I realize I am somewhat a large individual myself - but there are individuals that are much larger than myself - but it was a challenge in using the showers and how do the "handicap" individuals uses this comfort station that uses a wheelchair or a walker? I don't use either one, but I had to walk sideways to the showers, feel sorry for those that are either under 5'6" and are over 250 pounds or someone over 5' 8" and are over 285 pounds in trying to get into these areas.
Cabin areas - it would be nice to have outhouses and comfort stations more accessiable especially for those that have medical issues (Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and other medical issues) - so they can also enjoy the Great Outdoors - where they may not have the access to these RV units or can't use a Tent. Being more flexiable would help - but I do realize that must go with the majority - but at the price of losing others that this would be the only option to experience the Great Outdoors - how sad! And I maybe one of them and I am not 60 yet.

Cabin fun
We loved everything about the park, cabins, and park employees. We are from Nebraska and this was personal first time visiting. I was very impressed on how clean the outhouses were and the fact that the outhouses even had lights. Someone also stopped to clean and restock them daily. Where we were there was also a light pole not far from the outhouse making it easier at night to see. Loved the bike trails and playground for kids too. The only problem I had was when I used the shower house I did not realize the lights were motion activated. So when I was showering it suddenly was pitch dark. I was unclothed and had to make my way to the door along the wall. I was in the large handicap shower. Then locate my towel to venture out into the main room to find the light. I was halfway to the sinks and they came back on. After talking to other members in our group they all experienced the same thing. Next time I will be prepared but it was not fun the way we had to find out. Actually made me kinda mad. I understand the reasoning behind it but maybe posting a sign to let people know so they are prepared. All in all we loved Chief White Crane and had a really good time with beautiful weather. We also stayed in cabin 10. Thank You

Quiet fall trip by Lake Yankton
Loved being close to Lake Yankton to fish and kayak. Caugh perch, bass, and bluegill. Happened to also be the fall festival at Lewis and Clark which was fun as well. Site 22 has great views of the lake with nobody in front of you.

Relaxing Camping
We love having access to camping cabins. If we didn't have cabins, we wouldn't have been able to camp as much this year. We would love to have the check-out time extended passed 11AM. I greatly appreciate clean cabins and the time it takes to make sure the cabins are clean and ready for the next set of campers but it would be nice if we didn't have to cut our camping experience short.

Quick Camping Trip
We stayed in a camper cabin and it was an excellent stay. The deck is showing its age but we were told the park is aware of the condition and it is going to be taken care of, Beautiful park with the lake and everything very clean and trimmed up. Excellent park for bike riding and connecting with the trail system in Lewis & Clark campground.

Great Vacation
We had a great stay here. I was very pleased with 3 Sons RV Park as well, for dropping off the RV's and golf cart we rented from them for this stay. I will definitely rent from them again. I love that this park is so close to the swim beach of Yankton Lake. There is so much shade in this park. You can't go wrong unless you rent the cabins on the southwest end of the park, and they have no shade.

Campground Review
We enjoyed our stay at CWC campground. We’ve stayed there several times (even stayed there for our honeymoon 53 years ago - it’s changed some since then!)! Recently we got a kayak and took our two teenage grandsons with us. We love the fact that Lake Yankton is a good lake for kayaking (not too big and no whitecaps)!

Love Chief White Crane! Transparency seems to be the word in our world today. But I don't think it should apply to the shower curtains at the campground. They are so curled and old that everything is "transparent" to the facility users. A year ago my daughter bought a shower curtain and placed it on the rod over top the old curled shower curtain. Thankfully, it was still there this year - curled but at least it wasn't trimmed down. It covered the opening. In today's world, couldn't we at least figure out how to protect ourselves from this transparency?

Our family LOVES Chief White Crane!!
This is the 4th time our family has camped at Chief White Crane, and we love it! It's probably my favorite spot. We love the cabins that have water access, because it's so great to hop in and cool off in the summer. The campsite hosts are so friendly and helpful, always letting us know what activities are coming up and how we can get involved.

Nice but…
I liked camping. I used the tent site. The biggest issue was that at the tent site there is this massive light that shines all night. I get the “safety feature” but I did not plan on trying to sleep with a massive spotlight in my tent all night. It ruined the view of stars, and I could barely sleep from it. Move the light or turn it off.

As a non-resident, the price hike for a yearly park pass and a daily park pass is ridiculous. I will not be staying at Chief Whitecrane anymore. We will be staying at Cottonwood because it is run by the corps of engineers.
