Beware of Underage Drivers
Just concerned about how the park continues to let children and yes I mean children probably 12 and under operate golf carts. Not only are they too young to legally drive, 75% or more of them have 4-8 children riding and standing on the carts as they drive down the roads. Too young to understand traffic rules and pulling out in front of cars, pickups and other recreational vehicles. When will this be stopped? Hold the parents/grandparents accountable. Stop this before someone gets seriously injured!

I used to camp all the time , Its been 10 years and a lot has changed, owning a business, kids grew up, medical issues, but the time has come to try camping once again. We stayed in a cabin which we have never done before as we used to own a camper. We all loved it. It is super easy to pack your gear in one truck and head out. It was so relaxing and peaceful, I didn't want to go home. The cabins are great for a family of 4, possibly 5. ours had a mini split AC so it was super quiet. I cant say enough how happy I am to have tried these cabins

Safe, clean, well maintained.
We think all the South Dakota state parks we’ve visited are special. West Whitlock SP was clean, safe, and well maintained. We’re from Arizona and this was our second visit. If we pass this way again, we’ll definitely stay again. Good value for the money. Nice that South Dakota does not double the price for non-residents.

Park Roads
We were in cabin #2. In order to get to the cabins. They were on a separate road with a few other camping spots around them. All the other camp spots were on a total different road when you come into the park. The problem with where cabins 2 or 3 are is getting to the bathrooms. You can see them 150 yard away. But when it rains two days in a row you have to walk across wet grass and mud in the grass. In order to drive to the bathrooms. You have to go out of your area and back into the other camping road and drive all the way through the park to the restrooms. It’s nuts how this was designed. I wish the state would take a person there sometime and have them figure out how to maneuver through this maze. For a bathroom 150 yards away. Also in the rain and poor lighting. If it was a weather related evacuation. You would be able to figure it out.

Fantastic camping trip
The staff was very polite and wonderful to visit with. The campground was beautiful and the water was great. Staff was out and about checking on campers and cleaning up down branches as soon as the storm had pass. All in all my favorite state camp ground and we will be back next year.
