Where are the yard lights??
We have been camping at SD state parks for 35 years. Always have enjoyed our visits. There have been many improvements. However removing the yardclights in the parks this summer is concerning. Several times in the evenings there have been young children going to and from the restrooms and down the driveways alone. And we have witnessed young male adults hanging around the unlit restroom areas on several occasions. This is not safe and is very concerning. Please at least light tge outside of the restrooms and some of the pathways.

Labor day weekend Roy lake state park
The kiosk for state park pass is a joke and not user friendly. The app to make reservations or buy licenses is completely useless now as it didn't work at all. I had ro call to make reservations and buy licenses in person. The park is self was great. Cleen and well taken care of. It would be nice if there was better signage saying that park passes are available at thw store during business hours. . Park staff was very friendly and helpful when you asked for help.

Late Summer stay
Clean and well-maintained park. Lots of oak trees in the East campground; the campsite driveways were mostly clear of them so the acorns did not drop on our RV (thank you). The gravel driveways were mounded up several inches which made it challenging to place chairs on the sides of the camper.

Safety Issues
Roy Lake is a beautiful park, and we always enjoy our stay. This trip there was a safety issue in the shower house on the west side campground, west shower house. The motion lights (which are by the walk in door) turn off while people are in the showering, causing darkness and a safety risk. Please consider LED light with a possible light switch by the showers. Also, the water in the showers was all over the place...really hot then really cold, no just a warm temp. Garbage dumpsters have been moved to resort and dump station areas, which is not convenient, and most people drive to dump their garbage...missing the centrally located dumpster. We enjoy our time at this park, hoping upgrades/changes can happen.

Their garbage set up is awful. A person has to walk so far to empty your trash. Very inconvenient.

The weather was sketchy. We live close to Roy Lake and returned home during a storm, but camper neighbors spent time in the Comfort Station during the storm. (I realize you can't do anything about the weather, but it did impact our stay two nights) The Comfort Stations were very clean.
Some campers brought pets and at one point, there was two dogs chasing each other -- one definately out of control of the owner.
The staff at the Lodge were very helpful.
Since we live in the immediate area, having to make reservations 90 days in advance is disappointing--many times the nicest camping pads are taken. :(

Awesome weekend!
I don’t know how you got rid of mosquitoes but it was AMAZING camping not getting eaten alive!!! Thank you!!! We had an amazing stay with all the outdoor activities the park provides!

Awesome!!
The entire park is a wonderful experience. Everything from the beach to the playground to the campsites to the bathroom facilities are well maintained and very clean. The store is well stocked with necessities and all types of equipment you can either rent for very reasonable or even free! We visit several times a year and have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend for all ages.

After the 4th
I would like to see the camp site paved. We have camped at Roy since the last middle of thr 80's. Thing have been upgraded nicely except the sites. We also camp Richmond and Mina plus Farm Island, Lake Louise. They also are paved. Oh Custer State Park 2 weeks yearly. Sure would be nice.

Great variety of fish
The camp ground is nice and clean. Our site was pretty level with a partial lake view.
Only complaint was the restroom didnt have toilet paper for 2 days. So bring your own. Restrooms were clean.
