We love Pierson Ranch and will always reserve there when in Yankton. I just want someone to be aware that the showers in the bathhouse needed work. The shower curtains on certains stalls were barely hanging on. I used one shower that would not drain at all. Took a fast shower and still Stood in 2. inches of water.

Pierson Ranch is a great place to camp. The pads are long, areas with shade and areas with sun plus lots of nice green grass for kids to play in. Nice area for young kids to learn how to ride bikes plus easy access to the wonderful and scenic bike trails. We camped this time with our children and grandchildren. We had 3 campsites and 2 cabins. Cabin 1 was nice, Cabin 2ADA smelled of mildew the entire time, even after we ran an air purifier. Check for mold in and around the air conditioner. There still wasn't a campground host (hasn't been one since we camped over the 4th) which is where we were supposed to get the keys for the cabin. I was able talk to a park ranger who was making rounds and they were very helpful in getting the paperwork completed keys delivered. Kiosk to obtain park stickers was jammed one night, but the next morning, the park ranger was very helpful in finding our jammed receipt and providing a park sticker.

Long relaxing weekend
We have been coming to Pierson Ranch for years, and we absolutely love this campground! We would recommend visiting the Fish Hatchery and Aquarium! We ride our bikes to there each visit. We also visit The Dairy Dock as swell! They have amazing ice cream!
On this visit, the bathrooms were not tended to as they usually have been in the past. The bathroom stalls have cob webs and bugs in the corners, and the sink was full of bugs. Most of the time we could only use 1 toilet, the other 2 were clogged. We would have told the campground host, but we didn't see them our entire weekend. This was the older bath house.

Park Entry Fee Outrageous
We have been going to Pierson Ranch for years as a family and it has always been a good experience. But this year we were met with a Park Entry fee that is outrageous. I thought the old price was high at $36 per year but the new price of $60 per year is insane. South Dakota has some great parks but it appears to me that they are trying to drive the middle class families out of the parks. $60 a year for a park pass that you might use for a week is ridiculous. Our entire family is now committed to looking for other options. I would strongly suggest that South Dakota bring these fees back down to a more reasonable number so that middle class families can continue to enjoy the parks.

The bathrooms were not cleaned to the usual standard we have come to expect at Pierson Ranch, which is one of the reasons we pick this park.

I LOVE camping at Pierson Ranch. My only complaint was that the one bathhouse open t this time smelled VERY VERY bad the entire weekend. I'm not sure if it was the one toilet that was out of service...but it smelled strongly of sewage. Was hard to use.
