Comfortable site with great bath house
When making the reservation, the staff put us in a requested shady spot since we have pets. The bathhouse was wonderful, except for one shower that didn’t work properly on the men’s side.

Peaceful getaway
Very peaceful spots along the lake! Beautiful views and extremely quiet at night. The only thing I disliked was that people fully ignore the speed limit signs. Our slide almost got hit because a camper was flying in at the same time a boat was flying out. It either needs to be enforced more or I'd hate to say it...add some speed bumps. Speed sign I think says 10once you get to the camping area..people are easily going 30 while flying around with campers, boats or jet skis. Maybe some sort of markers are needed by the camping spots with people speeding around at night and there aren't ANY lights. People just need to be more cautious.

You need to update the campsite pics online. We booked this spot thinking there was shade trees...there were not. We would like to know why we can't park on the grass at Lake Vermillion. We camp in Yankton & Pierre at State Parks & they let us park on the grass. We need the extra space for boat or another car.

Park needs help
G,F&P has really let the campground deteriorate. Trees have been removed and many are dead or dying and there are very few new ones planted. Grass is overun with white clover and thistles. Volleyball net was tattered and barely usable. Lake has washed away the base of the retaining wall at the beach and it is leaning out badly. No dock. Sea snot from Zebra mussels was outragious. We have been camping here for many years. It used to be maintained much better. Now G,F&P just wants to drive through and give tickets.

Walker's Point
The lift station on the northeast end of the park smells awful. Is there something that can be done about this? As long as you stay away from that area, all is well but if you get anywhere close to it, plug your nose!

Great weekend stay
The bathrooms were clean and updated. Liked the unisex bathroom which provided complete privacy when showering and lock on door. Campground was well kept and sites were clean. Used lake one day and dock was in good shape and easy to use. Did not get a chance to walk trails as it was very hot. Overall great weekend stay.

There were MANY motorized vehicles and e-bikes that drove above the speed limit and we saw only one UTV with a park sticker. There were several mini motorcycles that made many loops through the park - they were very loud and very much over the speed limit.
One campsite had at least six cars parked on it near the bath house and they were very loud all weekend so including playing their music too loud.

Great Park
This is a great park. We camped on the east side to have access to that boat launch and the small "boater's beach".
Our campsites 30 amp breaker was defective when we arrived. We contacted park staff and they had it replaced and we were up and running in 20 minutes. Great service.

First Camping of the season
We like this campground because of the lake. The lake was very busy on Saturday and the parking lot was full. The mosquitoes were awful at sunset.
We were scheduled to camp the weekend before, but needed to move our reservation. We were glad we could do that. Our new site didn't have much shade.

First Time Visitor
This was our first time staying at a SDSP. We were impressed with the care given to this park. Camp hosts were friendly and the facilities were clean. Our camp spot was roomy. Loved the easy access to the lake for our kayaks. Took advantage of the hiking trails. We visited local golf courses and geocaches, visited the sculpture garden on I-90 to the north of the park, visited the Corn Palace in Mitchell and downtown Sioux Falls. We also traveled to Palisade SP to check it out-very pretty and enjoyed hiking that area.

Dump Station Issues
The dump station doesn't have working water, so you have to drag hoses from the ditch to fill and rinse your tanks. Another camper told us it had been like that (broken) for 4 years. You would think that repairing that would be a priority since every camper needs to use it.

It’s Beautiful state park, nice quiet, Tom, the host was a great personal host. The ranger came by and asked if we were aware of the weather coming in. I thought that was so nice.
Improvement: I hear from every guest. Updated your dump station. It is Very poor , old, no room. It needs at least 75-100 ft in between each station. A lot large campers out there.. Only Half the stations worked. It needs a whole new system . How it is positioned , big campers can’t make turns. That is what I hear the most from guest . It’s very disappointing.

Beautiful campground
Beautiful, quiet and clean. Listening to the owls talking all night was icing on the cake. The showers and bathrooms were updated and very clean. Water pressure in the shower was great. We were just passing through but I would like to come back and camp for a few days. We stayed in a lakeside pull through site. Bring levelers for these sites.

Evertthing was wonderful except the mosquitoes. I had over 50 bites and we couldn't sit outside for a camp fire. It would be great if you could spray. We loved the park, just not the pesty biting bugs.

Also, it "seems the local business" have nothing to do with the park??? I know if i owned a business next door I'd love to be apart of this wilderness community.

Nice during the week. State may benefit from demand-based pricing. Cheaper during week with higher prices on the weekend. May increase revenue overall and encourage more utilization during the week and smooth out demand on weekend. Just like hotels and airlines use!
