When we arrived to our site, our 30 amp service did not work. I called the park office to ask for help. I was told she was alone currently, but when the other person got back from her dinner break, someone would be out to assist. I waited for an hour and called again. The office attendant stated that someone was on the way. 30 minutes later, help arrived. The older woman with purple glasses apologized for the electrical failure but offered to loan us a 50a to 30a adapter. I was grateful and agreed that would work just fine for us. She then told me it would be another 30 minutes because she needed to complete her rounds first. I didn’t feel like she was making my family, including my two daughter(4 months and 18 months old.) We had already been there for two hours at that point on a 98 degree day. Not an ideal situation for my young family. About 20 minutes later, a park maintenance worker came with the adapter. He was very polite worked with urgency to resolve our issue. He stopped by again on Saturday to check on us and to replace the faulty breaker for the next campers. Unfortunate experience with the woman with the purple glasses that got our weekend off to a rocky start.

Always a nice stay, even when the wind is off the lake the upper portion of the main campground is comfortable and only breezy. The new archery range was a nice addition, would have brought my bow if I had noticed it was there when I made the reservation.
I do wish the 90 day reservation window was shortened to 30 or even 45 days, so I didn’t have to plan my stay so early in the spring/winter.

Great Camping
We had a great spot down by the water! The weather was beautiful & we had our own area of the beach. The one complaint I do have is they only have 2 bathhouses & the one closest to us you access by going up a bunch of stairs. The stairs are all different sizes & are very dark. I almost fell coming down them after my shower that night. Motion lights on or by the steps would be great. Otherwise we loved it!

Parking fee??
We had to pay a $30 fee for the vehicle we pulled our camper with! I understand a parking pass for an additional vehicle, but for the vehicle you pull in your camper with? That should be bundled into the camping fee. I have never experienced this before and its rediculous. On the plus side, the showers were the cleanest i have seen at a state park.

Lake Poinsett campground 2.We came as a family 4 different spots. Women’s bathroom toilet would leak when flushing it. water Spicket by the swim area was leaking. Kids loved making dream catchers

Great Stay
Those new sites all be it unconventional(118) this site had great shade, shoreline access was awesome and the new archery range was a great addition. You can tell staff care.

Great location, well maintained - lots of bugs and algae
The facility was lovely. The lakeshore campsites have a great view. The issue is the amount of algae in the lake. The first day it was so bad it was like a thick muck floating along the lakeshore. There were people swimming offshore, but I still wouldn’t let my dogs in the lake.
The bathhouses were clean and in good repair.
Lots of mosquitoes and flies around.
The reservation system was difficult to use. I didn’t want to add an account, not register for hunting licenses and other things.

Someone's swimsuit top was left in top bunk mattress. We were not able to get into our cabin and couldn't reach anyone for assistance for over an hour.
