disappointed camper

Inside the camping grounds, the lawn was not mowed. For a busy holiday weekend, I would have expected the lawn to be nicely cut. Also, due the year of rain we have had, if the lawn would have been cut, maybe the mosquitoes would not have been quite as bad as they were. Also, the bathrooms were not clean at all. Garbage outside of women's bathroom was not emptied all weekend. for a state park-holiday weekend, I expected this to be cleaner. I have stayed here previously, and it was not this bad.

Beautiful but Messy

It’s an absolutely beautiful campground, however the cleanliness of the bathhouse was absolutely unacceptable. I don’t think it’s been deep cleaned in weeks if not months. Unfortunately it is along the James River, so the mosquitos and flies were horrible. They really need to do a better job at spraying for bugs….. especially if we are paying $30 a night. I was also disappointed that all the picnic tables were placed in the campsite where the camper is supposed to be parked. I felt they should have been placed out of the way prior to our arrival

Tent camping for pheasant hunt

Contacted someone from the park to verify that bathroom and showers would still be available on my selected dates before making reservations. Was told that water would be on and bathroom and showers would be available. Showed up to find bathrooms/showers locked and water turned off. No camp host or employee on site so mad a call to find out what was going on. Come to find out, they had shut the water off and locked up ahead of time. Park was clean and quiet, was just looking forward to showers after days hunting.

Unhappy camper

My husband and I along with friends camped over memorial day weekend. No spraying was done for bugs prior to or while we were there. Many of us had severe gnat bites. Mine were so bad I had to be put on prednisone. Then I broke out in hives and had to get an antibiotic. This was uncalled for. Spraying should have been done before campers arrived for the first big weekend of camping. Some of the suffering due to the gnat bites could have been prevented. Also, grass wasnt mowed. This campground used to be one of our favorites but not anymore. We have camped at Mina twice already and no issues.
