Poor staff
I drove up to the main entrance and waited at the window for a staffer to ask a question. I saw her at the desk when I drove up but she wouldn't come to the window. So I drove around the building again to get her attention. She still wouldn't come to the window. So I drove around for the third time and parked in front and walked in. When I opened the door, the attendant was startled when she looked up from her book.
I then asked if a friend could come out and park outside the park entrance so I could pick him up and bring him into the campground for supper. She was unsure, however some young testosterone lacking male came out of the back office and forcefully announced that that was against Park regulations and he would have to park his vehicle on the other side of the railroad tracks. I found that strange as in other state parks we could do that very thing. I told him that was BS as I was walking out the door. He then came running out the door to confront me about it. I jumped in the car and drove away since I did not want a physical altercation from him.
The staff should give more attention to the customers rather than reading books and also learn some good customer relations.

It would be great if there was a nice comfort station on the East side of the campground for the campers over there.

bad roads and no garbage cans
The road into the campground after passing the check in station is terrible and has been for multiple years. Dangerously rough for pulling a camper and even rough with a camper hooked up. I feel for the price charged per night that you could at least have a second dumpster at the east campground. It is hard to believe that you expect people to load the garbage into their vehicle to take to the 1 garbage center you have and then expect the people paying to camp to work the compactor.

Pay twice
You will have to pay twice. First, you pay online about $30 for the campsite. Then, also online, you'll pay $10 for the privilege of reserving online. All set, right? Not yet. When you arrive at the park, you will have to pay $7 for every single day you occupy the site. This $7/day charge is for privilege of driving back and forth to access your campsite. As a retired state park ranger myself, I find it appalling that campers would also be charged a day use fee. Day use fees are by definition not applicable to overnight campers.

Amazing spot
This place is a wonderful gem. Wide open spaces and plenty of grass areas. I like that even if you don't get a waterfront spot, everyone can still enjoy the lake. Plenty of access. Fishing was super fun. We caught fish right at the campground and over on the rocky areas. There is a bike path that runs to town and out to the island. Playgrounds, boat ramp and close to town, but still peaceful. Has to be a favorite campground for us.

Clean campground and friendly staff
We love to stop at Farm Island on our way to WY. We always get a site by the water, making it convenient to kayak. The facilities are always clean and there has never been loud or unruly campers. Haven’t used the bike trail, but that is a nice amenity that we hope to use in the future.

Fun stay
This is a beautiful, large campground. There’s plenty of room between campsites. We were extremely impressed with the staff. We had lost an item in the bathroom facility and it was thankfully returned to the office. The cleanliness of the whole park was totally appreciated.
One small drawback was the playground area. It is situated on the very eastern side of the campground. It is quite a ways for parents and children to get to. I would definitely recommend putting in another playground in the middle of the campground not only for convenience but also for safety reasons.

Farm Island is the Best
Farm Island was an awesome camping experience. You are close to the water for fishing, the bathrooms are the cleanest and nicest in the State we have seen so far (including Custer State Park). We will definitely be back again!

I love Farm Island.
Our campsite had lots of leftover seafood tails, potato peelings and candy scattered around the site. I hate when others don’t pick up after themselves!

Great Spot!
The reason we rated it a 3 overall experience is because it was extremely windy and we ended up going home early. This isn't anything anyone has control over, but it did effect our weekend. We had a spot that was by the water and the first night it was calm so we got to enjoy paddle boarding right by the camper.

East Farm Island
Love this park but the road getting to the campground needs repair along with the dump station pull in area. Also, crossing the railroad tracks is rough. I realize that is a RR issue and not a GF&P issue.
The staff are welcoming and the camp area is well maintained.

Fall Camping
Place was beautiful as usual. When the weekend arrived they closed over half of the rest rooms. I suspect staff for cleaning was short handed. This not good if not advertised. People taking showers and so rest rooms not available. This not good for elderly people that cannot wait that long. I suggest if half to do this to ask people to forgo showers as can not hold up restrooms that long.

The website is difficult to use. We finally reserved a site and received a confirmation number. Some one was finally in the booth. I asked for a guest tag for our tow vehicle and was told I did not have a reservation. How can you get a confirmation number and no reservation?

Less dogs
We stayed in cabin 2-the outlets could probably be replaced as they didn’t hold chargers etc in the slots. We also had a camper parked 2 spots down from us that had 4 dogs that parked all the time. They also let one run without a lease.

Need to spray
There really needs to be some sort of spraying done for mosquitos, at least during holiday weekends. It is impossible to use enough bug spray to sit outside 10 minutes after dark. The camping pads have not had any gravel added to them in what seems like years. The fire pits could use a little help with rock or gravel for when it rains, it is like a lake around most of them.

Love those Cabins
Love the Cabins. Clean, comfortable, and spacious for a weekend visit. Fish right outside the cabin on the beach or watch poles from the deck, just a short 20 yds away. Fire pit right there if you desire, picnic table on the deck. We prefer the Cabins as we are retired and harder to get off the ground or air matress. They are dry in wet weather, dont have to set up a tent or pack in windy conditions. Less gear to pack when in the cabins.
