EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!

We have camped in Custer State park many times. But this is the first we've used this MYSD site to reserve, and it is horrible. NOT user-friendly. Seriously, unable to reserve more than 90 days in advance. Its January, we're trying to plan, but how can you be certain you have a place to land, if you can't reserve until April 1st? The site will be bombarded by then. Ridiculous!!!!

FIX YOUR WEBSITE / POLICIES

The website is a joke. We're from this area and can only imagine how horrible it is for other from afar to have any indication as to what the sites look like (actual pictures are a must). You never see a camp host but you'll sure see tags/envelopes on vehicles requesting people to pay. There are several FF sites which are on a first come basis, however, we found the camp host allows them to be reserved. The website always says no availability, but when we drive through the camp grounds, there are always vacant sites. It is so unfair that so many people book the sites and then apparently never show up. I get that they have paid for the site, but if people aren't checked in by a certain time, the sites should be up for dibs. The way South Dakota and the government runs our parks is like anything else - they are horrible at it. My step dad always fought the fact that locals aren't able to use our facilities for free as we live and pay taxes here year round and then we get pushed out completely during tourist season. PS: What concealed permits are needed? SD did away with gun permits a few years ago.
